Your first weekly appendix
One project to carry forward.
Keep the reusable captions in Siteframe. Use the editable DOCX in your wider report and the PDF as a separate report copy.
Prepare this computer
- Use the recorded Linux environment with ordinary Google Chrome Stable 152.0.7977.82 and LibreOffice 26.2.5.2. Windows, Edge and Microsoft Word are unverified. The tested Chrome host is an extracted, vendor-signed official RPM payload; this does not verify a package-manager installation or update process. Obtain Chrome and LibreOffice from their official distributors; do not disable the browser sandbox.
- Extract the entire Siteframe ZIP into a folder you control. Open fonts/NotoSans-Regular.ttf with the system font viewer and choose Install if Noto Sans is absent. Restart LibreOffice. Its font selector must show Noto Sans. The supplied font is unmodified Noto Sans 2.015; a different/substituted font can change layout.
- Right-click Siteframe.html → Open With → Google Chrome, or open Chrome, press Ctrl+O and choose Siteframe.html. The address begins
file:///. No Node, Python, installer, local server or account is required for the application. - You can disconnect the network before opening. Keep the files on your own computer and use a folder with your usual permissions. Updating Siteframe means explicitly extracting a newer supplied package; there is no automatic update service.
Build week A
- Choose New appendix. Set the project title, week beginning and A4 or Letter.
- Choose Add photos and select still JPEG/PNG files. Review accepted images, warnings and rejections. Nothing is committed until Add accepted photos. Cancel leaves the report unchanged.
- Add captions and optional asset IDs. Replace changes the image and source metadata, retaining the caption, ID and position. Rotation is an explicit quarter-turn; inspect any photo with unknown orientation. Move buttons change order; Undo restores the last command.
- Optional caption CSV: UTF-8 with
filename,caption,asset_idheaders, one unique exact basename per photo. Quoted commas, quotes and line breaks are supported;0007remains text. The preview shows all replacements including blanks. Apply sets order to CSV row order in one undoable operation. - Save project downloads a .siteframe master. A download-start message cannot confirm a durable disk save: check the browser Downloads folder, retain the right file and make your own backup.
- Choose Review & export, check every photo and caption, then Generate DOCX & PDF. Open the generated PDF in a new tab to inspect actual pagination, or use Download PDF if a viewer does not open. Download DOCX separately. The content review is not a pagination preview.
Reuse week B deliberately
Save A first. Start next week adds seven calendar days and makes a new project identity. Replace or explicitly keep every inherited photo and review every retained caption. Replacement does not mean the old caption is still accurate. A caption edit counts as review; an asset ID edit does not. Inherited unresolved decisions block exports, but you can save work in progress. Remove obsolete entries and append new ones. Save B under its new week filename; reopen the downloaded file to verify it.
Before editing in LibreOffice
The .siteframe project is the reusable master. Edits made in LibreOffice, Word, PDF tools or an assembled report do not flow back into Siteframe or into its independently generated PDF. To retain a correction for next week, copy it back into the Siteframe caption, save and reopen the project, then regenerate both outputs.
The DOCX contains a native editable table. Open it in the recorded LibreOffice, edit the caption normally and use Table → Select → Table to copy it into your weekly report. Save/reopen and inspect the result. Different office applications, font substitutions and table edits can reflow pages. Keep all caption text visible; do not use fixed row heights that clip it.
Recover safely
- Typing marks the report unsaved immediately. Save project or Ctrl+S includes the field you are still editing. Invalid text blocks saving and returns focus to the field; correct it, or press Escape there to restore its previous text. Cancelled saves retain your edits for retry.
- Cancel stops staged import/open/export work without committing a partial result. Wait for cancellation before retrying. No partial document is offered.
- If an input fails, the current project remains available. Correct the named input or save the current project and retry a smaller batch. Never rename an unsupported image format to JPEG.
- Undo/Redo retain up to 30 commands and 50,000,000 bytes of superseded images. Older history is released with a notice; saved project files are independent snapshots.
- Edits invalidate the current output links. Previously opened PDF tabs remain old snapshots. Regenerate and download the new files. The application retains at most one previous PDF within its cache budget and announces eviction.
- A browser crash, close or reload loses unsaved work. A leave-page warning is only a reminder. There is no automatic backup, browser database or cloud recovery. Reopen your latest checked .siteframe file.
Text and image limits
Up to 60 photos and 150,000,000 original source bytes total; each source ≤20,000,000 bytes, ≤36,000,000 pixels and ≤12,000 pixels on either edge. JPEG/PNG stills only; no HEIC or APNG. Canonical white-background sRGB JPEG report copies use quality 0.88 and at most 2400 pixels per edge. Each normalized image ≤10,000,000 bytes; all normalized images ≤150,000,000 bytes. Project ZIP ≤160,000,000 bytes; manifest ≤2,000,000 bytes; caption CSV ≤512,000 bytes.
Title: 1–120 Unicode code points, single line. Caption: up to 2,000 code points and 20 line breaks. Asset ID: up to 80. Valid Unicode can be saved in the master, but rendered report text must use supported Latin-script Noto Sans glyphs. Export errors identify the field and code point; nothing is silently dropped. Hidden source filenames are not export-checked unless you enable them. Tabs in typed/CSV input become four spaces with a notice; invalid control characters are rejected. PDF is selectable text, but is not PDF/UA or PDF/A certified.
Official prerequisite sources
Get ordinary Chrome from Google; choose its Linux RPM for this Fedora-derived host and open it in your normal operating-system package installer with any required administrator authorization. Google's Linux installation instructions describe the official packages and package-manager updates; they do not certify Nobara. Obtain LibreOffice through your distribution's normal software installer or The Document Foundation. Keep ordinary security updates enabled and revalidate compatibility for new releases. The candidate's extracted Chrome launch does not establish installation/update acceptance. Prerequisite setup can require connectivity; the extracted application itself works locally after setup.
Recorded test scope
The resource check uses a reproducible synthetic 60-photo benchmark on the recorded Nobara/Ryzen host. Its 2,500,000,000-byte sum of browser-process RSS is a test ceiling, not a customer RAM minimum or a guarantee for every admitted photo distribution. Native GUI checks use authenticated Xephyr within private KWin/Xwayland, with actual application dialogs and input. This does not verify normal-session portals, default file handlers, physical input/GPU or package-manager installation. You do not need to install the test display environment.
